The ASE TTE iPad App 2.0.1 offers comprehensive animated content derived from the American Society of Echocardiography’s DVD titled "How to Perform a Transthoracic Echocardiographic Study Volume 1: Transducer Position and Anatomy." This application effectively mirrors the instructional material of the DVD, providing an interactive platform for echocardiography education.

Within the app, users will find an instructional video suited for professional lectures, featuring nonlinear access to various views for enhanced presentation flexibility. The video covers an overview of relevant cardiac anatomy, detailed step-by-step guidance on all transducer positions, and the sequential movements necessary to acquire standard echocardiographic images required for completing a transthoracic study.

The cardiac anatomy section offers visualizations illustrating the relationships among the heart, ribs, axis, planes, chambers, valves, annuli, and blood flow pathways within the heart. These detailed diagrams facilitate a thorough understanding of cardiac structures.

The transducer position menu enables users to observe anatomical landmarks and corresponding transducer placements across various imaging windows, including left parasternal, apical, subcostal, suprasternal, and right parasternal views. This feature enhances spatial understanding of probe positioning during echocardiography.

The views and imaging menu allows for seamless navigation from specific transducer positions—such as left parasternal long axis—to particular images acquired within those windows. Examples include PLAX at high or low depth and zoomed views of the aortic and mitral valves. Each animated loop presents a finder image indicating transducer position, an illustrative diagram of sectional heart anatomy on the left, and the corresponding echocardiographic image with labels on the right, providing a comprehensive visualization aid.
